Sep 15, 2022

Entrepreneurship is exhilarating it is thrilling, rewarding satisfying, boring as well as exciting at the same time. This can lead you to put in more hours than you planned, however it also allows you to be flexible to get maximum enjoyment from your life.

It's WordPress the goal of WordPress to open up publishing, allowing for online store ownership offering everyone an opportunity to follow their interest, then transform your passion into an income stream. However, every business owner has issues they'd like to understand prior to beginning their business: things they'd change in addition to the knowledge they'd like to impart in order to assist others avoid making the similar mistakes.

Joe Niemann:Co-owner and president of Acoustical Solutions, an international distributor, manufacturer and supplier of products for noise control concerns for schools, churches factories, outdoor space, hospitals, and more. They increase productivity, improve security, and increase the understanding of speech.

Katie Thomson: An accredited dietician with an MS in Nutrition and is founder of Square Baby. The company offers a variety of meals which are customizable to guarantee a healthy, nutritious daily meal for babies of all ages and developmental stage.

Ivan Rivera:Co-founder of Little Giants - Giant Shorties A clothing brand that makes quality contemporary products for kids which are inspired by youth culture of the past as well as the present. This isn't your average brand and the clothes that are designed to fit the future rulers of the future could be described as "good enough for adults however, they are designed specifically for children."

What's the story behind the incident and how did you get started?

Three entrepreneurs we spoke with have strong backgrounds in corporate, but they believed that they could succeed more.

Joe Niemann took the alternative route of partnering with other individuals to invest into an established company. The business was a result of his 25 years working in executive positions that included those that dealt with mergers and acquisitions within big industrial corporations, however he was ready to capitalize on the knowledge gained from his previous jobs to form an independent company that would allow the team members and him to develop their ways. However, Acoustical Solutions wasn't his original idea:

"Our goal was to purchase an industrial manufacturing business. We did however, discover this business, which is predominantly a B2B distributor."

He bought the business in 2014 and, in the time of the purchase it was making about $10,000 of online revenue every month. The current number is more like $450,000.

In the case of Katie Thomson, Square Baby was formed out of a desire to offer adequate nutrition for her children.

"I was a mother in 2008 and as I walked around looking for alternatives to food I was shocked by the things I found. Do you realize that many babies food bags are filled with similar amounts of sugar that an entire bowl or Lucky Charms? Mind. Blown."

In the early days, Katie was the senior nutritionist at Starbucks. She was responsible for many of Starbucks' improvements in healthy options over time. She was also able to provide strategic and nutritional consulting for products such as Perfect Oatmeal, Skinny Lattes and Frappuccino Light. In addition, she served as advisor, and member of the top executives, including the chief executive Howard Shultz on product development journeys to Italy. In the year 2010, Katie left her dream job at Starbucks and started working on her own meal plans that could be customized. "I did not know if I wanted our children to grow up with So. Much. Applesauce," says Katie.

For Katie, things didn't happen overnight. "I have been working to develop developing the Square Baby concept and business plan for the past eight years. Sounds crazy, right? It's true that timing can be everything," she says. "It required an enormous amount of work and time in the process of creating however I am so thankful for the opportunity to work really hard on something is something I'm so passionate about. "

Ivan Rivera and his wife were also affected by their transition into motherhood with having their first child, Knowledge.

"We could not find something in the kids' wear market that and relevant to the culture as well as inexpensive," says Ivan. A majority of brands were luxurious high-end, overpriced and did not match the values or the passion of the sub-cultures in which we're involved. So, we started making our own clothing in order to promote Knowledge before expanding after that."

What do you know about life? What has this taught you?

Like Acoustical Solutions wasn't the kind of company he wanted to buy, Joe Niemann's task as HTML2's developerdidn't perform as per the expectations he had for it either.

"When we took over the company, my partners as well as I didn't have any knowledge in the field of the acoustics or music. We also had not managed a business of any size ourselves. We had the general manager that was expected to oversee the day-to-day operations, however he left after just a couple of months. I took on the role of president. It was never my intention to remain in the position for a long time, but now I'm really satisfied with my option. At the moment I feel this was the correct choice."

The moment he felt the urge to develop Little Giants - Giant Shorties, Ivan Rivera worked as an IT professional in the field of database consultant as well as a highly popular hip-hop professional. His life was filled with activity: short trips, studio sessions in late night clubs as well as everything related to professional music.

Today, the world is full of action. "But the main thing is to be a mother to a boisterous six-year-old, as well as constantly fighting flames within our business," says Ivan, beaming. "I have so many hats and carry out a myriad of duties, and experience all the emotional and physical challenges of running a business. If you consider having a baby first time, the exhaustion isn't over and it's just new."

Katie Thomson is a resounding reflection of feelings regarding balance:

"I believe I've done pretty well in maintaining some balance at home and at work. I'm the mom of two kids, which means it's a lot of carpool homework and schoolwork. Teachers' sessions, and games/practices for children, as well as making meals and doing chores . . . And a start-up. This is a bit crazy however, it is totally doable.

If you are enthusiastic about your work and think of the task as a privilege rather than a task the motivation to get over the line will be strong. I'm proud that my boys get to see how hard I put in to pursuing my dream. And I'm proud that I'm at a point of being able to shut it down when I need to, so they can get the attention and affection they need. Everyday is a balance act and that's the way of everyday life, isn't it?"

What are the most important things you wish you knew before starting your venture?

Katie Thomson is Katie Thomson iswell conscious of her time-to-market is long although certainly not unheard of however, it's not exactly typical. It's a good thing she took an opportunity and didn't realize that she won't be able to have her dreams realized for a long time. "I'm content that I didn't conscious of the length of amount of time that it would take to start my business. It's possible that I was frustrated in the past," Katie says. Katie.

If you inquire of Joe Niemann on the same subject, he immediately gives you the bullet points. He is aware of what he studied prior to his being thrust into the role of leader:

  1. Search engine marketing and ways Google and Bing are able to drive traffic to your website.
  2. Search engine optimization and how to use keywords in the development of content to be better rankings on search results.
  3. The impact that the state sales tax.
  4. The details of credit card processing as also how to safeguard against fraudulent transactions.

This list isn't only intended to provide a peek into Joe's methodical and clear approach to management however, it is also a good guideline for those seeking to start your own eCommerce company. Certain people are familiar with specific points, but that's not the case for all. Joe recommends that you study more about subjects which are new to you or to find a few friends that can assist you in those areas you're not familiar with.

Ivan Rivera, though was a businessman, went into the market without pause:

"I wanted to learn the basics of marketing, sales, or anything else business related. We started a clothing company but didn't know how to manage it. The result was a "trial and error. It would be nice to be able to establish further processes prior to the launch, with a particular expansion plan and understanding of the production procedure."

What suggestions would you provide for those who are thinking about setting up a new company?

Katie Thomson encourages entrepreneurs not to be afraid of starting small. Here's an excerpt of her article:"Don't invest too much on a single path without conducting a test. Be aware that you'll need to alter your direction in some manner."

Katie says that beyond the constant advancements and changes, to improve your business You must study the customer journey and make choices based on the information you discover.

"Listen and take lessons from your customers. It's more important than the customer experience, particularly in the area of DTC (Direct to Customer). Beginning the moment they come to your site, they can navigate through it, look for information, and make purchases, get the product delivered and get help along how to use it. A laser-focused focus on your user is the key to building trust and trust of your clients."

to Ivan Rivera, there's no better time than now "I'd recommend that they take the time to do it! But, they must keep their job to the maximum extent possible, and cut as many costs as they can. I had to quit my job at a very early age. Be familiar with fundamentals of sales, marketing and product development before you are distracted by flashy technology. If you don't have the basics established, as your business takes off the pace of growth can get somewhat ahead which can make it hard to catch up."

According to Joe Niemann, the key is careful planning:

"It isn't about whether you're the first entrepreneur or have run an online company prior to. You should develop a thoughtful plan for your business that incorporates an extensive understanding of the landscape of competition."

He is also in agreement with the recommendation to begin with a smaller amount , and then focus on the customer experience:

"I think you should keep your website's navigation and website design as simple as possible for your first launch and start with a a limited number of products. It is recommended to plan on investing money in SEO to boost traffic, but stay clear of Amazon also as focusing on making your buyer's experience as enjoyable and simple as it is."

What's the most significant learning you've gotten from it?

They continue to make improvements and are focused on their customers and their demands This is the way Joe Niemannsummed the concept:

"Competitors keep improving too, and you have to update your shop to make sure that your customers experience an experience that is better that their own."

Katie Thomson stresses that you must live and breathe the customer experience. It extends to go beyond UX design, and even into customer service in general:

"How you interact and respond to your clients, along with the manner you engage with them and follow-up is key."

Then she pivoted into an area we had not discussed previously: visuals and design.

"Don't reduce the standard of your photographs for your product. When you manage an online page for business, and site is your opportunity to attract the attention and admiration of potential clients. Your website's beauty is as crucial as the functionality."

Ivan Riveraalso found the strengths of a solid team:

"Life is much better in a world where everyone is eating. And 100% of a grape's nutrition is no more than one-third of the watermelon that is ice cold. Be a good person and don't be selfish when it comes to your company and your team.

An effective team is essential. You need a multiplier increase in a thing's size in order to allow it to grow exponentially. If you don't have that group, you will be more hats on your shoulders more than you could count fingers and not enough time to complete every task."

Then where do we go?

Before we could part, we had to know what drove them to select it as a solution.

Katie Thomson mentioned the versatility of the technology:

"With as well as a few additional plugins, we've created an individual subscription service. We place customer satisfaction as our focus, we empower users to change their subscriptions, pause or delay a week, alter the delivery method, and so on."

The importance of user-friendliness was a factor when it came to Ivan Rivera:

"WordPress has made it simple to get a website up and running within a short time. It's straightforward and straightforward to run it from day to the day. All you have to do is to ensure that you have your foundational procedures in order so that you're ready should you decide to start making sales."

Joe Niemann was presented by the web designer that he worked on with:

"When we launched our new website in the year 2015 , our web developer introduced us to as the eCommerce platform that was simple to navigate and was compatible with the kind of transactions we were conducting online at that time. We've included a range of plug-ins into our initial launch to aid in improving the performance of the site, allowing us to increase the business of our online store up to the point it is today."

This is the place for business owners.

As an entrepreneur, there are instances when you're focused in growing, advancing in your career and helping others which means you're not taking time to look back and be grateful for the progress you've made. We'd love to see each owner of the store have a chance to reflect and be grateful.
