About the fiber artist Amanda Adams

I'm a fiber artist and illustrator living in Baltimore. I came to Baltimore in order for school at Maryland Institute College of Art. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) which is where Nicole Mueller and I met and became friends before we launched the Beyond the Studio podcast together. Since the beginning of the year, I've been building up my art-related business, a small one Call Studio Close Call Studio which I run full time.

What is the style you prefer?

My art style, whether drawing, sewing or drawing is not self-conscious, and meant to delight and inspire those who see it. My style can be moody or direct and some of my work can be kinda darker, but I always have some humor and playfulness involved.

What is the key in creating your artwork?

It varies from season season but currently holding an attitude of "no stress" in the studio is fundamental for me in the present. I've put on a lot deal of pressure on myself, which did not reflect well in my work or the rest of my life. Creating space for rest and gardening are just as imperative for my work as sitting down to draw.
