When I have time I enjoy doing 30 mins to 1 hour study or explorations, where I can do whatever want to do during the day. This was a huge help in my development, however it also helped find the kinds of activities I liked.

These days I really like to focus on color, light, and how to explain textures in a simple way so I don't have to go overboard with every aspect. My preference is to maintain my designs very close to the real world however, in the future I want to try to make shapes move further and be more stylized with my artwork.

When I start a painting, generally speaking, I prefer to sketch the main forms at first, whether in BW or straight in colors. If I feel it's necessary, I start with linework initially. When I've got a solid base I like to map on the light and shadow shapes onto separate layers. It is not until that point do I start to paint or render it generally moving from large to small particulars.

In the Streets of London painting I used a similar process. To ensure neat edges and keep everything well-organized, I employed a large number of layers. I also put the main light layer on another layer.

Using layers also makes me feel less anxious about making mistakes. However, once I'm happy with where I'm at with the work, I'll begin to combine a couple of aspects, while keeping only what I feel is essential.

Colors to me are much a "feel" aspect, and I simply go with the one that feels good. Also, I have a number of reference sources which I use for help in choosing the correct colours. Sometimes I mix references and sometimes I just use one.

It's definitely a good idea to study the theory of light and colour, to know the limits you can push to make the overall colour palette and values better.

I think it's difficult for me to define what the most important thing I do to create my art... I simply like exploring diverse styles, techniques, and subject matters and get inspiration from others artists.

I'm still so early in my art journey and continue to try to determine my identity as an artist and what kind of style I have. The main difference in my life is that I don't really worry about it as much I used to and I'm sure that's making significant changes.

My Background

I'm Bjork as I'm graphic artist. I'm currently employed in the field of Concept Art on games.

I come from a small nation known as the Faroe Islands and have always had a creative streak in some manner whether it was via drawing, storytelling, or drawing. I graduated with a BA in CG arts from The Animation workshop in Viborg, Denmark, in 2019 and began my first position in London in the following year.

Today, I'm mostly employed as a concept artist with Envar Studios but also do occasional freelance gigs.

In general, I'm more active on Twitter as compared to the Instagram platform. For those who want to buy prints I sell them on Inprnt.
