Information about the fiber artist Amanda Adams

I'm a fiber artist as well as an illustrator who is based in Baltimore. I relocated to Baltimore to go to the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in which Nicole Mueller and I met and became friends before we launched our Beyond the Studio podcast together. Over the last nine years, I've been building up my art-related business, a small one Call Studio Close Call Studio which I run full time.

What is your style?

My art style, whether drawing, sewing or drawing is not self-conscious, intended to entertain and inspire people. I can be moody and direct and some of my work can be kinda dark but there's always an element of comedy and a sense of play.

What's the secret in creating your artwork?

It varies from season year, however having the mindset that is "no stress" in the studio is fundamental for me right now. I've always put a great quantity of stress on myself, which did not reflect effectively in my professional or personal the rest of my life. Creating spaces for relaxation and garden are just as imperative for me like sitting down and drawing.
