If you've ever considered thinking of launching your own online group, then you are not all on your own. Studies have revealed that 60% of businesses operate a brand-name online community and that 15% of them were looking to launch one within the following twelve months. From intimate masterminds to sprawling community networks which have thousands of members from free to costing thousands of dollars, the ways to run an online community are unlimited.

Describe your community and why they gather.

My group is called Conscious Collective It's designed for those who want to realize their power and potential. Our members recognize that we're all connected and we're all collectively, and bring that awareness into spirituality. There is classes and challenges for mindfulness, meditation as well as personal growth and a focus in making the practice of spirituality simple as well as accessible and enjoyable. Everybody loves the brand innovative challenge system, the Live Room, and the leaderboard feature.

How structured is your community?

There are two major circles inside Conscious Collective for now. We'll expand as we grow. The majority of our activity takes place in "The Forum". The Forum is for discussion about all subjects, challenges discussions and shares, and invitations to events that live. There is also the "Spirit Market" community for those who wish to display, purchase, sell, and trade their metaphysical art and accouterments. Group meditations, regular challenges, classes, and other events are hosted within The Forum / Live Room (which is SO much better than Zoom btw!). The Forum is adding virtual coworking evenings, art nights, as well as oracle evenings in the month of April.

I use the latest platform for my premium membership and for my VIP mentorship program.

A recent community win

The community is really taking to the platform. Our members are requesting things like art night, oracle evening as well as a variety of other events, and are eager to participate and be the host.

The Leaderboard is awesome! Every month we offer a prize for the person who wins. The prize this month was a bag of Onyx Coffee, one of the most renowned roasters of coffee across the US. It's not a huge giveaway however it does add some fun to the competition and is great for involvement.

What is the structure of your community?

The latest portal available within allows our mastermind community to grow to a new scale. We can now hype each other up in challenges, share wins, and create even more connections. Being able to have live call and classes is a great tool we use to keep engagement up.

Recent community wins

A big win for Stylist Soul Tribe this year has been that we reached 100 people in our mastermind group. We are so excited to launch the group in January in order to grow even more! The Stylist Soul Tribe is hosting a vision casting workshop happening soon where we touch on mindset and vision work along with all the steps to success.

A top tip for all other Heroes

An idea I'd like to give you is to create space for your community creatively. So many of the big concepts and innovations within the mastermind were generated by people in the mastermind. Many of the connections have come so organically by allowing the room for it to happen. It has provided me with the means to put a system in place that runs seamlessly so that I can be as authentic as possible for my members.

Describe your community and why they gather.

The Kathy Keats Community is a wonderful collection of pet lovers who recognize that realizing the fullest potential of dog sport (or any other activity) isn't only about developing skills, but rather about growing. It's impossible to fool a dog. Dogs are incredible mirrors that inspire us to be humble, test us, reveal our shortcomings and motivate us to become better ... in their honor, for ourselves, and our loved ones.

How structured is your community?

It's still an experimental process of creating the ideal method for my audience. Right now I'm using (or I'll be using) it three ways: one is as an addition to online courses or as an accountability group that provides a positive that is a membership on its own, and a third way is as a free area to connect with my listeners and bring people into my network. I use a combination of live meetings and using the Live Room feature and Challenges to keep my audience interested and engaged in my courses. Also, I create weekly updates for the members of my community. I are planning to implement chats in the community area so I know what topics and guests might be interesting in my podcasts.

The top tip for others Heroes

If you are using community as part of online courses, consider onboarding the community first before the date of your course's official start and get your audience engaging there with an opening week live event, competition or leader board scavenger hunt -- because the community is where the most learning curve is and then you can open up your area of instruction. This will help prevent overwhelm and it's easier to link to the specific lesson in the class.

Recent community wins

The latest course was a huge hit, largely because many of my customers aren't technical but could easily participate in live Q&A sessions thanks to the simple user interface. The live sessions have had more face-to face participation in the online community than I've ever experienced with other conferencing tools because technology didn't get in the way.

Define your community's purpose and the reason people gather.

My online community the Level Up Club is made up of individuals who are entrepreneurs, creatives and change-makers to gather and connect with like-valued people that want to learn to the next level, improve their skills, and make a positive difference in the world.

What are the structures of your community?

Two accessibility groups "The Community" which is free for anyone to join, and "The Golden Circle Mastermind" that is my mastermind group. I currently have five circles: one is that is for posts of general nature, Bookish is for talk about books, and Podcasting is for, you guessed it -- podcasters. And, NLP and Hypnosis for people looking to discuss this, as well as one to my masterminds. The challenges have been super enjoyable and the community is loving taking part. So far the challenges have been about making friends as well as mindful and healthy living. Meetups are a great opportunity to introduce new people into your community when you share the event through social platforms.
