From the time she was a little kid the New Zealand-based designer and artist Evie Kemp loved the arts and design. "I would be drawing all the time, redesigning my dollhouse, or watching room makeovers on the television." Then, during her teens, Evie says, "I became really insecure about being  different and I would do almost anything to keep from being noticed."

That urge to fit in led her to law school, but when she was studying law, "my mental health became poor," Evie says, "and I took 6 months off. It was during that time, when I got well again I focused my attention on figuring out what I actually enjoy, and I decided to go to school for graphic design instead." Returning to her early passion for art was life-altering. "It was at this point that I was able to truly identify my unique voice, and accept all the quirks I'd pushed away for years."

Within the fifteen years that have passed since the moment she made that choice to concentrate on developing her skills in the field she is passionate about, her determination and expressive voice has helped her establish her own business. "I discover increasingly that I'm more confident and vibrant and imaginative than I've ever been," she says. "It's a bit like the old "Which one came first, the chicken or the egg question I'm not sure if I get more confident and comfortable with myself the more my work is more exuberant and vibrant, or if it's actually opposite. My style isn't something I would say is 'developed' though--it's definitely in the process of developing."

Evie's fashion sense shines through her bold style, which is brimming by vibrant colors and interesting patterns. Find out more about Evie's advice to build an online presence that reflects your voice and a content-driven strategy, and then using it to manage multiple income streams with ease.

Create a distinctive "you" website

How and where to present your presence online is vital for the success for any business or creative. In the words of Evie puts it: "For me, my website and social media are my 'face. In the online world I believe that my site represents me and has to impress and convince others of my knowledge."

The creation of a brand-new website that uniquely represents your business and the services you provide is not just about having the presence of a distinctive brand helps you stand out from the crowd. It's also important to accurately portray your brand's style and to attract the types of customers, customers or audience who'd best connect with you.

Design a website that's as useful as it is appealing.

A must-have feature for Evie is the announce bar that welcomes visitors on the first page on her website. "My website features a lot of information, therefore it's great to immediately highlight certain items!"

It is a pleasure to know that these functions only "take only a moment to add, but I want to make sure that my website stays current and functioning as best as it can."
