The family is a creative one for artist and illustrator Kentaro Yoshida. His mother, too an artist, was an influential influence on his work even though she was not entirely happy in his decisions for his career. "First she wasn't a big fan of my being a full-time artist. I believe she understood the difficulties due to her experiences. But I gave an attempt and was able to make it through," Kentaro says. "She has been the main source of inspiration for me."
Kentaro was born in a rural fishing village in Toyama, Japan, but moved to Australia when he was 18 years old, which is where he currently lives in Sydney. Since then, he's built a successful part-time, freelance job as an artist. He sells prints, custom-designed painting surfing boards and murals, as well as collaborating with major brands and musicians.
Read on to learn the ways Kentaro came up with his unique design style and the website has evolved along to keep up with his style over the past decade to support his creative work and reflect his unique personality.
