Attracting clients with a portfolio site

" My website gives me the chance to show potential clients what I can provide as an artist" Wednesday says. "At present I've got around two years of customer work available on my website. It's to provide future customers an idea of what I'm capable of delivering."

"When I take on any work," Wednesday says, "I would like to ensure that the project will be in sync to my style of art and my philosophy in my work as an artist. I enjoy creating work that can make people, particularly LGBT and queer people--feel comfortable. Therefore, when I'm approached I like to know that the client knows this and wants to nurture this through collaboration."

Connecting to a an ever-growing social media audience

"I absolutely love managing my social media accounts," Wednesday says. "My entire professional life was born from it. I made 100 art pieces over the course of 100 days, which was to be launched the Instagram account. Therefore, I've always been adept at staying on top of posting."

As they've shared their art as well as cultivated their social following over the years, it's important to each Wednesday remind yourself of these 3 essential lesson:

"Not every artwork is going be a hit, but that's fine."

"Sometimes you're going to get it wrong--and that's okay."

"Not everyone will love you. That's okay."

Are you looking to start your own creative freelance career?

Being a professional working artist This is Wednesday's recommendation for you:

Your rest matters. Your body isn't a machine. You create art because you're inspired todo so, not because you have to feed the machine.

The key is consistency. Choose a style and pattern that is comfortable to you, and adhere to it for a while.

Connect with other artists online, and find your community.
