Each successful founder's story begins by pursuing a love of. In the case of Sam Stocking, dog trainer and founder of Korey the Kanine, that love was for dogs. In the year 2019, in search of ways to control the symptoms of her Type 1 diabetes, Sam and her husband decided to welcome Korey into their home. Korey was just a puppy at the time, but their goal was to teach Korey to be a diabetic Alert Dog, a kind of service animal that is trained to identify and alert their person to spikes and dips within blood glucose levels.
Sam as well as Korey started working with a trained trainer who could assist Korey grow up into the life-saving Diabetic Alert Dog that Sam needed her love for dogs transformed into a business idea. "Seeing the incredible things Korey could do was the catalyst for my desire of becoming a dog trainer--which led to founding Korey the Kanine."

Sam first launched Korey the Kanine while living in Germany at the time of the start of the pandemic. "I had the opportunity to launch my business solely online, and then further develop it into both online and in-person appointments once we moved back in the USA and settled into our new home."
