What's your history?

"My moniker is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I'm an illustrator, animator and GIF artist who is based in Brooklyn, New York. For my professional work I design motion graphics, animated illustrations and storyboards for explainers video series and apps. However, what I truly love to do on the side is to make fun and quirky animated graphics as well as stickers that help people smile and help them express themselves."

"I was born in Taiwan and began attending high school for fine art in my early years. I've always loved drawing, but I began to be stymied by a very traditional education way of life. I felt that I was unable to express my personal style and personality using the conventional techniques in art. Learning about fine art has certainly helped me establish the foundation for where I am now."

"I changed to design school in college before moving to New York for grad school. This was when I started experimenting with animations and digital art. Animation provided me with the power to combine animation and motion to convey a message through a fluid manner. I really enjoyed learning how I could bring still images to life."

What are the most important factors in creating your animation images?

"I am a fan of working with the sense of humor and emotional energy that helps people feel connected, exploring different media and creating a unique aesthetic. Designing can be really entertaining!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I enjoy how people come up with ideas as a group, and I believe that great work usually is made by a collection that has distinct strengths and abilities.

In daily life, I'm not going to stop making items that inspire me. When not designing, or creating motion graphics, I can find myself making messy mess around the house (lots in cooking) or making crafts. I frequently travel to Brooklyn farmers markets , and play with various ingredients at home. There is a world full of magical things, I love to travel and explore different cultures, new communities, as well as innovative art."
