What's your history?

"My name is Sylvia Boomer Yang. I'm an illustrator animator, and GIF artist from Brooklyn, New York. As part of my job as an artist I make animations, motion graphics as well as storyboards to explainers for videos and applications. However, what I truly love to do as a side project is make fun and quirky cartoons and stickers that can make anyone smile and help them communicate their ideas."

"I was born in Taiwan and was enrolled in the fine arts school when I was little. I always enjoyed drawing, but slowly I got stuck in a strict education method. I felt like I was unable to express my personality and voice through the traditional tools in art. Learning about fine art certainly helped me build the basis for who I am today."

"I went to design in college and moved in New York for grad school. That's when I began experimenting with digital animations as well as animation. Animation gave me the ability to blend illustrations and motion in order to tell a story in a dynamic manner. I really enjoyed discovering how to make still images come to life."

How would you describe the style of your animations?

"I often love to express myself through fun, colourful and quirky styles. I believe that smiles are the best way to evaluate your work. "

What is the key to making your animated images?

"I love to work with a sense of humor plus powerful emotions that make people feel at ease, while exploring different media as well as creating an original style of design. Making designs can be a lot of enjoyable!"

"Collaboration/teamwork is one of the keys I evaluate a lot. I like how individuals generate ideas in the team, and also believe that the best work is usually built by a group comprised of individuals with distinct strengths and abilities.

Everyday, I'm not going to stop making things that make me feel inspired. When not designing, or creating motion-based graphics, I'll find myself making messy mess around the house (lots cook!) and creating crafts. I frequently visit Brooklyn farmers markets , and play on various food items at my home. There is a world full of amazing things. I am a sucker exploring new cultures, communities as well as innovative art."
