Painting and installation work - The CreativeMindClass Blog
Nicole Mueller is a San Francisco-based visual artist. Her work includes large-scale paintings as well as murals and installations inspired by the look of stained glass. Inspiring by the process these abstract paintings are saturated and constructed with layers of collage-like shapes. Her work explores the complexity of color, states in flux, dichotomies inside painting, the change of being, and the transition between the interior and exterior, the intangible and tangible.
About my background
I'm primarily a painter living and working full-time as an artist in San Francisco, California.
My experience also covers mural painting, installation work, as well as working in the field of arts administration as well as career advancement.
I studied painting in the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore in Maryland, where I resided for many years before making the move to on the West coast.

A large portion of my mission and work involves hosting Beyond the Studio with fellow artist Amanda Adams, a podcast which aims to improve transparency in the art world by conducting interviews with modern artists on their professional routes.
About my fashion
Most of what I do is intuitive, driven by process, abstract, highly saturated, made of color and layers of collage-like shapes.
I paint large-scale and light-activated windows that mimic the effects of stained glass and murals. In this project I'm exploring dichotomies and changes in state, the threshold between interior and exterior, the tangible and intangible.

What is the secret to creating my art
I think that showing up regularly at your job is crucial. For me creating a practice in the studio as well as setting goals for myself to push forward allowed me to focus on my tasks whenever life gets in the way. Also, taking the time to slow down to rest or even take breaks (for a day up to a month or perhaps more).
