The MRR as well as the ARR calculation

Previously upgrade, downgrades as well as add-ons, were sometimes not recorded or properly handled when it came to reporting on subscriptions. The issues were addressed so that calculations can be more correct going forward.

What Changes Should I See In My Store?

If you are a heavy user of upgrades, downgrades, or add-ons it is possible that you will see your MRR and ARR change slightly resulting from the updated calculation. These calculations are more accurate than previous reporting with these fixes. If you are still unsure you can contact us at [email protected].

Historical MRR Changes

Previously, we used dates of activation to check for the date of cancellation before removing MRR contributions, which had the unfortunate side effect of altering historic MRR value. To address this the issue, we've updated our analytical tools to detect cancellations on the day that cancellation occurs and remove MRR contribution at that time.

An example of change

Let's take an example of the annual subscription which was activated in January 2023, canceled in May 2023, and it was deactivated by the end of December. Our previous MRR contribution calculation would not have changed until December 2023, potentially altering the MRR contribution over the course from May through December 2023.

With the date as in the previous example, our calculation immediately takes away the MRR contribution to the account beginning with the cancellation date in 2023, which is May and results in an more precise MRR Change calculation.

What Changes Should I See at My Store?

For some sellers, this might result in an increase in the number of cancellations, and also lower MRRs for active customers as well as subscriptions. If you have any questions regarding this report, you can reach out to [email protected].
