"You have to know what audience you're targeting prior to making an organization built around participation" starts Matt Hardigree, publisher of The Autopian. "I have had issues which were solved by those who believed that there will be an existing readership. It's a math problem, but it's not a problem. You can use every information source that you could find."
The writer suggests that, if you're writing on behalf of a site, take an examination of the amount of visitors you've. "If you're on a website along with 10 other writers and all of us want to begin something, what do we have in common? Are we a part of 15 percent of the site's visitors? That's not much. Or do we make up 80 percent of the people who visit the site?"
Sometime in the past, The Autopian founders David Tracy and Jason Torchinsky made up 50 percent of the traffic on Jalopnik. "They would have thought "We might be able to create something and it's possible to make this happen'," says Matt. "What's interesting is that David and Jason aren't awash with huge numbers of people following them on social networks, which appears to be the simplest way to turn into customers. But, they don't have to buy followers because they already had fans.
Prior to launching, The Autopian did a review of competition within the automobile industry along with the press. "We are aware of how many car customers who use these websites. Take a look at: If we've eliminated costs, what do we likely to require in order to succeed? And then you have to consider: Where will these people come from? And what proportion of them are aware of who we are? How much do we need to have to achieve the sustainability level and sustainability? For membership costs What are we planning to cost? '."
The writer goes on to say: "You can make some predictions, but they don't have to be right, but you need all relevant details. When you've made a prediction it is possible to use the capability to link the information sources, and identify where you're off and make a change to your forecast. If you're lacking evidence and you're guessing then you'll need calculations to determine the truth.
Matt says that when you've conducted your own research you'll be able to make an "in your head" aspect "In the initial half-hour or two of launching the membership I was in a state of chaos! I wondered, "What's going to take place? Once those memberships started coming in, it was unbelievable! But, we're still doing analyses of data and are constantly looking at which strategies are effective and what's not."
Engaging strategies and ways to increase
"I believe that we're 10 percent of what our membership could be," Matt continues. "We've had success, and we've been able attract lots of new members however the initial 10 percent of members is the simplest to obtain. This last 10% of members will be the most challenging. Each tranche could be tougher than the previous tranche. Therefore, we'll need to come up with some strategy."
Matt believes that 10x growth will likely be a 5-year objective. "If we are able to reach 50 percent of our target We are in a way supported at this point through membership. If we are able to reach 100%, we're more than sustained with the cost of membership, or earn income by joining and would like to reach that goal."

What goals do they have to achieve them? What do they have to provide in terms of perks for members and how will they make use of these perks to draw new members?
Matt responds: "It's a balance because it's a journalistic venture as well as a fan-based activity. This is like having three distinct groups of people in the way we encourage members to sign up as well as to maintain the membership by making The Autopian feel valuable."
Strategy 1: Content
Matt says that the primary type of content. "We have to write something that's good enough and intriguing enough to be distinctive enough to stand out from all other content. For example 'I can only view this post on Autopian. It must be a valid participant in The Autopian if I want it to become a reality.'
"You're not paying for access to this material because there isn't an paywall. The reason why you have to pay is because you wish for it to be available worldwide." Matt affirms that autopian's material will be the best-loved offer "You want this to be accessible so badly that you'll have to pay approximately $4 a month, or $10 per month or $85 a month for specific customers."
Strategies 2 and The Benefits
The Bucket 2 is the title given to the items that users can get free of charge, like Discord access, clothes like T-shirts, tickets for diverse events like trivia nights and other merchandise like badges, stickers and other items.
"We provide a range of products you'll get in when you purchase the vehicle. In the middle are cloth ($70/year) prior to vinyl ($100/year) then Velour for $250 per year. The most expensive price is Corinthian leather, which is $1,000 per year. It is more common for people to employ Velour as well as leather than I would imagine!"
"One among the items you get is a birthday card. The co-founder of our company is an artist talent. We weren't expecting to receive lots of drawings. So he's created a better birthday drawing than we anticipated. It's still a long way to go!"
A per-year rate of $1000 is an unreasonable amount, however this was the suggestion of a long-established media business Defector. Defector told Matt that he could locate numerous more customers who could comfortably afford the $1000 they had envisioned. "I thought"I do not know what the number is, but how much is $1000?' they said"Do this!" Matt laughed.
"They have also voiced they would like to be in the middle level, because they're at two levels less than other," the author says. "We looked at it for a while before finally settling on 250 dollars per year. It's the best amount. There are many Velour members. This year, more people changed between Velour and vinyl as well as from vinyl down to velour and vinyl. More people moved from 100 to 250 as opposed to those that were between 100 and 250. It seems like we're getting there!"
Autopian's Autopian team has also realized that their content created behind-the-scenes is popular. They publish procedural content such as when they stumble upon the article. They then create "Tales of on the Slack". Matt declares: "We have our internal Slack and it's not meant for use by anyone else."
"People make up bizarre, absurd, funny things!" Matt is laughing. "Our editor-in-chief David does not have the pop-culture sensibility therefore he's always perplexed by things. He believed that Ronan was Serpico and that it was an film by the name of Al Pacino film that was set in the 1970s. It was actually a Robert De Niro film that came out in the late 1990s!"
Strategy 3. Fear of Missing out (FOMO)
"The third content bucket and the one that is working extremely well and that a lot of people overlook is FOMO. People don't want to overlook important information." Matt continues.
"We are currently on Discord that has daily section for guidance. The Discord located on our website is open and free with members-only sections," he adds. "I encourage members to share pictures in chat "Here's me in my shirt and I'm sporting my badge', and people want to be members in this."
Matt says that attracting new members is extremely effective so it is in keeping with the style of content you write. "Every every once in awhile we'll launch a 'Here's all you get' appeal - to remind people of the benefits that members receive."
More regularly they will thank their community: "We love our commenters and it's because of you that we're great. If you're not a regular member, we'll try to be understanding. Not everyone has the money. If you're in school, no matter what that may be it will be recognized. If you're struggling to get the cash, become the reader. We would like to warmly welcome you and are eager to include you join us as one of the members in our group. If you're passionate about this idea, and you'd like to join this community."
But, then we'll write an FOMO blog, where Jason writes 'Here are all of the birthday-themed drawings I created during July! The people who look at the pictures will think 'God! I'd love that.'
Communities are available in a variety of forms and sizes, such as parties for birthday celebrations with cars.
