The Autopian

"You need to know the types of people that will become your clients before you create the business based on memberships," starts Matt Hardigree The Autopian's Publisher. The Autopian. "I have seen issues where people just hopefully assumed there would be readers in the Autopian. It's not easy math, however and it's not too difficult. It's possible to use any information that you've collected."

If you're writing for the site consider looking at the amount of readers you've got. "If I'm on a website alongside 10 other writers and we all want to start something then is our readership the same as yours? Is it 15% of the site's viewers? It's not much. The ones we are represent over 80 percent of the internet's traffic?"

In the past, The Autopian creators David Tracy and Jason Torchinsky made up 50 percent of the people who visited Jalopnik. "They could have believed "We might be able to create something. It's feasible'" continues Matt. "What's interesting is the fact that David and Jason don't have a huge followers on social media. This could be an easy way to convert them into readers. They didn't really need to acquire that as they already had followers.

The Autopian

In the lead up to launch, The Autopian did a competitive review of the auto industry as well as media. "We recognize the many car fans who check these sites. Take a look at the following scenario: when you've figured out the cost of your car and have figured out what we require to be successful? Then, you think about: where is that person coming from? How much do they have a an idea of who we really are and who are we? What percentage do we require in order to meet our goal of sustainable development? In terms of membership fees, what are we planning to be charging? '."

He continues: "You can make some assumptions, but you don't have proof. However, you must have access to these data points. After you've got started with the data points, you're able to connect the data points to know where you're heading before making any changes. If you're unable to discover any proof or evidence, or are thinking about it, take the time to calculate and figure out the outcome.

Matt recognizes that even when you've spent the time to look into your options, there's a tendency to experience the "wait and check" at some point "In the first half hour to an hour or so after I signed up for my membership I was a total chaos! I was thinking "What's going to happen? As the memberships began to come in and it was amazing! The team is still conducting research and looking at what's working and what's not."

Strategies to increase engagement and grow

"I think we're at least 10 percent toward where the members of our organization would be,"" Matt continues. "We've achieved success. We've seen a number of new members sign up. However, the highest 10% of our members are easy to join. The last 10% of members is likely to be most difficult. Each tranche could be harder than the previous tranche. it. We'll have to be clever."

Matt believes a 10-fold growth is definitely a five-year goal over the next five years. "If you are able to reach 50 percent of the target and we're nearly sustainable at the moment by utilizing subscription. If we reach 100%, then we're better off with the membership fee or are earning income only from membership It would be great to reach that amount."

What methods do they use for achieving this objective? What can they provide members benefits? How can they make use of this in order to get members?

Matt responds: "It's a balance because The Autopian is a journalism project, but also an avid venture. We look at it as three different buckets that draw people to join, and to maintain their membership to the next level - by the process of creating The Autopian feel valuable."

Strategy 1: Content

Matt says that the most important collection of content. "We need to create something unique and compelling enough to stand apart from all the other content"I'm able to access this via the Autopian. I must be a true component of The Autopian if I want it to be a reality.'

The Autopian

"You're not paying to get access to content because there's not a paywalled entry to the content. This is because you want being able to access it anywhere." Matt says that this is the most valuable value added service "You need this thing to be available so quickly and will cost four dollars a month, and ten dollars each month as well as the cost of $85 for specific individuals."

Strategie 2: Benefits

The bucket two represents a representation of the things users get for free, such as Discord access, clothes such as T-shirts, invitations to events including trivia nights along other items such as sticker and badges.

"We offer a variety of items similar to buying the car. The first is cloth ($70/year) and then comes vinyl ($100/year) as well as Velour which is priced at 250 dollars per year. The most expensive is Corinthian leather, which cost $1000 per year. There are many of people that use the velour or leather that I would believe!"

"One of the gifts you will receive is a birthday drawing: one of the founders has an art talent. We weren't expecting to receive as numerous drawings. He's drawn a lot more birthday themed drawings than we had anticipated. And we're just being caught!"

The idea of earning $1000 per month is a huge amount But, it was advice from the well-established company of Media Defector. They informed Matt that they had a lot more customers who could pay $1000 than they anticipated. "I thought"I don't know. $1000?' Then they said"Do This!"" Matt smiles.

"They are also expressing that they would like to have middle-tier insurance in place as they currently have two lower levels and a more prestigious one," he says. "We debated the topic and decided on $250/year. This turned out to be the perfect number because there are so many people who enjoy velour. In the past year, we have seen greater numbers of people shift between vinyl and Velour and then later, converting to vinyl. Over 100 individuals have moved between 250 and 100 more than those who moved between 100 to 250. That's a sign that I think that we've done it right!"

The Autopian

Autopian is also aware that the Autopian team is also aware that behind-the-scenes content is extremely well-liked. They also share procedural content such as the way they came up with headlines and also "Tales of Slack". Matt states: "We have our internal Slack. The Slack is not intended to be used by anybody else."

"People are prone to saying ridiculous, stupid and hilarious things!" Matt smiles. "Our director of editing David doesn't have any pop culture knowledge, and that's why it's always a struggle for him to have a to comprehend the issues. He thought Ronan was an Serpico, and believed that it was an Al Pacino film of the 1970s was actually a Robert De Niro flick that was released in the 90s!"

Strategy 3. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO)

"The third type of content that is highly effective and which a lot of people aren't aware of is FOMO. They don't want to not be able to access the content they want," Matt continues.

"We are a discord which has a weekly column of suggestions. The chat is completely free and accessible, but there's a section specifically for members," he says. "I suggest members post pictures on chat. For example: "Here's my photo with my shirt, I'm wearing my badge'. People are interested in joining to join the community."

Matt confirms that this strategy to attract new members performs really well as long as the content is consistent with the types of content you produce. "Every time we'll send out a "Here's what you'll get' advertising. It's an opportunity to remind you about are the advantages of the membership."

The Autopian

In more frequent intervals the community will be acknowledged "We cherish our comments We thank our readers to help us grow. If you're not a current member, we'll be tolerant. Many don't have enough cash. If you're at school no matter what is fine with us. If you're unable to afford the money, just join us as the reader. We'd love to include you as a reader and make you part of our community. If you're an avid reader of this kind of thing, here's the option to become part of the community."

After that, we'll create a FOMO post. It will include Jason posting a message that reads 'Here's all birthday-themed drawings I did this month! The people will be able to look them over and say "God bless me! I'd love this.'

It's similar to forming a community. can be found in many forms and sizes, from birthday celebrations to celebrations of automobile lovers.
