Work on installation and painting The CreativeMindClass Blog
Nicole Mueller is a San Francisco-based visual artist. Her artwork includes large-scale works as well as murals and installations inspired by the look from stained glass. Driven by process, her abstract works are highly saturated, built with layers of collage-like shapes. Her art explores the variety of color, the state of flux, dichotomies within painting, the fundamental transition of being, and the boundary between interior and exterior, both tangible and intangible.
About my background
I'm mostly a painter who is a full-time artist in San Francisco, California.
My professional experience includes painting murals, installation work and working in arts administration and professional development.
I studied painting in MICA. Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) located in Baltimore in Maryland, where I resided for many years before making the move into the west coast.

A large portion of my work and mission is co-hosting Beyond the Studio with my fellow artist Amanda Adams, a podcast which aims to improve awareness of the art industry through interviews with other contemporary artists about their career routes.
My fashion
The majority of my work has been unintentional that is driven by process. abstract and highly saturated made of color and layers of collage-like patterns.
I create large-scale artworks, light-activated window installations which mimic the effect of stained glass and murals. Through this series, I'm exploring dichotomies, changes in state, the threshold between external and interior, and the tangible and the intangible.

What is the secret to creating my art
I'm of the opinion that being consistent in your attendance at your job is crucial. For me making a habit of studio work and setting myself goals to keep moving forward has allowed me to focus on my time whenever life gets in the way, as well as knowing when to step back to rest or even take breaks (for days up to a month or longer).
